The Nanoscale Bioelectrical Characterization group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for a
post-doctoral researcher in the frame of the Bioelectronic Olfactory Neuron Device Project (FP7, BOND).
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- A multidisciplinary investigation on the mechanism by which nanobiosensors based on olfactory receptors provide
an electrical response upon odorant stimulation. The investigation will be performed at the nanoscale and will
involve instrumental developments (electric atomic force microscopy in liquid media), theoretical developments
(modeling of the nanobiosensor response) and sample preparation (olfactory receptor immobilization on
electrodes).
Requirements:
- PhD Degree in the fields of Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, or related fields.
- Previous experience in Nanobiotechnology applications
- Verifiable experience in atomic force microscopy is required.
- Experience in nanoscale electrical measurements, on the preparation of self-assembled monolayers, lipid layers or
biomembranes and on finite element modelling will be valuable.
- Basic knowledge on cellular and molecular biology will be appreciated.
- Skills: Teamwork, proactivity, flexibility, self-discipline, communication skills.
- English: high level
We offer:
- Two years contract, yearly renewable.
- Stimulating, interdisciplinary research and high quality scientific environment.
The selected candidate is expected to start in September-October 2010.
